I’m obsessed with candles, particularly scented ones. They add a touch of elegance and ambience to any room and are also great for creating a relaxing environment. I tend to gravitate towards clean and citrusy scents but I also find that my attraction to a scent usually has to do with the mood I’m in.
I recently became obsessed with two intoxicating candle scents that I just had to share with you. The first is one that I had contemplated buying for months. I finally bit the bullet and purchased it this past weekend. Williams-Sonoma’s English Cucumber candle is a clean fresh scent perfect for this time of year. The smell is light but an instant pick me up! I actually have it burning now and I feel, well…as cool as a cucumber. I’m dying to get this entire English Cucumber set–I’m talking the hand soap, lotion, dish soap and diffuser but for now I’m thoroughly enjoying the candle, which by the by is on sale!
I stumbled upon my next scented candle obsession while enjoying a morning spa treatment at the Setai Club and Spa down in the Wall Street area. (I highly recommend this spa for a day of personal pampering). Upon arriving and changing into my spa robe and comfy slippers (best darn slippers I must say) I was taken to the relaxation room. The relaxation room was a darkly lit room with tranquil spa music, appetizers and books. I’m not what you would call a “Zen” person (the urban jungle will do that to you). I rarely find time to relax and enjoy pure solitude and even when I do, my mind is always at a level 1000. But with my cell phone in the locker room and with really no other option in sight, I decided to close my eyes, take in the moment and R-E-L-A-X. Mission accomplished. It was lovely and it was made even lovelier by the most soothing and pleasurable aroma wafting throughout the spa. When I was finally taken to my treatment room I couldn’t help but ask the spa attendee the name of the candle and she told me it was the Dayna Decker’s Clementine candle. Unfortunately they were all sold out of the candle (understandably!) so I couldn’t take one home with me that day. Believe me, if ever there was a reason for an impulse buy–this would be it.The luxury of a spa is being able to indulge in a multi-sensory experience: the soothing sounds of a waterfall and music, the relaxing touch of a facialist or masseuse, and of course smell. While the entire spa experience was lovely, the Dayna Decker Clementine candle really sealed the deal for me.
Upon returning home I googled Dayne Decker and started reading all about her products. Pure luxury. Check out the Dayna Decker site to find out where her candles are sold and to read all about the Botanika collection where this Clementine scent comes from. I can only tell you about my Dayna Decker candle experience from the spa, but once I finally get to purchasing this one, I’ll make sure to tell you all about it!
